2026 ASD Volleyball Update
A Message from the Service Volleyball Coaching Staff
We were recently informed by the Anchorage School District that, due to budget reductions, we will most likely only be able to field one C-Team this fall instead of the two we have had in past seasons. Unfortunately, many sports across the district are facing similar cuts, and in some cases the C-Team level is being eliminated entirely. We are thankful we can still have at least one C-Team even though we advocated for two.
As coaches, one of the hardest parts of our job is making cuts. We already have to turn away a significant number of athletes each year, and this change means we will have to make even more difficult decisions. We want to be transparent so families can prepare for a more competitive tryout process. This year, we anticipate making earlier evaluations and may need to make initial cuts after the first day of tryouts rather than the second. While we may consider slightly larger rosters at the JV and C-Team levels depending on overall talent, our priority is to ensure meaningful playing time and development opportunities for those who make a team.
With fewer roster spots available, we strongly encourage all players to take advantage of the offseason to prepare. Getting consistent volleyball touches as well as staying in shape through cardio and strength training will make a significant difference. The athletes who come in prepared will give themselves the best opportunity to compete for a spot.
For those who may not make a school team, we truly hope you will stay involved in volleyball, whether through club programs, open gyms, adult leagues, or simply playing for fun. Remaining active in the sport is one of the best ways to continue improving. We also encourage athletes to explore other activities such as flag football, cross country running, or cheerleading to stay connected to a team environment and school community.
Please help us spread the word by sharing this message with anyone who may be interested in trying out this fall. We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we navigate these changes together.

The Kroger Family of Companies is committed to community engagement, positive social impact and charitable giving at the national and local levels. Every community is unique, but our common goal is to partner with the neighborhoods we serve and help the people there live healthier lives.
One of the ways in which we do this is through our Fred Meyer Community Rewards program. This program makes fundraising easy by donating to local organizations based on the shopping you do every day. Once you link your Card to an organization, all you have to do is shop at Fred Meyer and swipe your Shopper’s Card. Here’s how it works:
A digital account is needed to participate in Fred Meyer Community Rewards. If you already have a digital account, simply link your Shopper’s Card to your account so that all transactions apply toward the organization you choose.
Selecting the organization that you wish to support is as simple as updating the Fred Meyer Community Rewards selection on your digital account.
1. Sign in to your digital account.
2. Search for your organization here.
3. Enter the name or NPO number of the organization you wish to support.
4. Select the appropriate organization from the list and click “Save”.
Your selected organization will also display in the Fred Meyer Community Rewards section of your account. If you need to review or revisit your organization, you can always do so under your Account details.
Any transactions moving forward using the Shopper’s Card number associated with your digital account will be applied to the program, at no added cost to you. Fred Meyer donates annually to participating organizations based on your percentage of spending as it relates to the total spending associated with all participating Fred Meyer Community Rewards organizations.
If you have any questions, please contact Fred Meyer Customer Service Center.
Note: If you are a customer, make sure you have a preferred store selected to view participating organizations. If you are applying on behalf of an organization, please select a store in the same area as your organization.
